More good news! We are pleased to announced that RCDRC has received a determination letter from the IRS indicating that we are now officially a tax exempt organization under IRC Section 501c3. The letter highlights that "Donors can deduct contributions they make to [RCDRC] under IRC Section 170"" and that RCDRC is "also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts." The letter also highlights that RCDRC is classified as a public charity.
So what's next? Well now that RCDRC is officially recognized as a 501c3 organization and public charity – and we have entered into an agreement with Church World Service to serve as new our fiscal agent while we continue to grow – RCDRC has the opportunity to focus on further developing short-term, mid-term, and long-term capacity development, community resilience, and sustainability strategies that can transform Robeson County's official Long-Term Recovery Committee into a Long-Term Recovery Organization!
