The beginning of a new chapter for RCDRC
Post date: Apr 11, 2018 7:08:30 PM
Dear Partners in Recovery:
I am pleased to announce today that the Robeson County Disaster Recovery Committee [RCDRC] has been engaged in a series of actions that will prayerfully steer Robeson County's Long Term Recovery Group [LTRG] towards a more constructive and productive path going forward. During yesterday's LTRG meeting the membership voted to remove the current board of directors in an effort to demonstrate that this community is dedicated to developing a functional, responsible, and accountable long term recovery group that is focused on efficiently and effectively addressing the needs of disaster survivors while working transparently, cooperatively and constructively with our local, state, and federal stakeholders.
The membership also voted to temporarily appoint Ms. Darlene Jacobs as the Interim-Chairperson while the organization continues to transition and prepares for a special election that will occur at the next scheduled meeting on May 8, 2018 at 2:00pm. It should be noted that Ms Jacobs previously served as the committee's vice chair and was elected to serve in that position by the membership on January 9, 2018 in a move that was designed to help expand the objectivity and experience of the former board. Due in part to her years of experience as the former Executive Director of The Robeson Church and Community Center and her willingness to help the organization transition successfully through difficult circumstances, yesterday's vote by the membership vividly demonstrates an adaptive expectation in our community that is focused solely on working collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse stakeholders that are committed to achieving excellence.
And while today marks the beginning of a new chapter we recognize that the road ahead will not be easy, and that the growth and change that must occur will take time. After all there are a lot of bridges that must be rebuilt, a standard of trust that must be earned, and a much higher bar of professionalism that must be surpassed in every action that we engage in going forward. Still we, like the community that we have been blessed to serve, remain steadfast as we continue to look to God for His wisdom, understanding, and counsel.
Having said that: over the next few days and weeks we will be reaching out to a talented pool of diverse doers that are committed to developing an environment of genuine collaboration and efficiency that our community deserves and needs. In the meantime we'll keep you updated throughout the transition and we look forward to your constructive feedback and suggestions.
As always, Thank you for your patience and we pray that this update is received as a warm invitation to join us as we help to Renew Robeson 一together!
